All Age Services
We hold an All Age Service on the third Sunday of every month where the younger members of the congregation play a more active role in the service, such as conducting readings and taking part in intercessions and offertories. The All Age Service is open to all members of the congregation, whatever their age!
See our Calendar for our next All Age Service!
Children also play a key role in important Christian festivals, such as Christmas, Easter and the Harvest Festival, filling the church with beautiful decorations! For Easter 2012 they created illuminated manuscripts, while at Christmas they reminded us of the true meaning of Christmas – love, joy and peace.
See Are You a Parent? for more information.
St Barnabas and St Philip’s School
We also maintain links with St Barnabas and St Philip’s School, through services, shared resources, and joint activities. Several members of the church serve on the Board of Governors for the school.
Some of the clergy and lay members of the church run school assemblies. We hold a competition every year to design the Paschal Candle for the church at the school, usually with many high-quality entries!
Join in St Philips Church’s Children Activities
St Philips Church is always on the corner and waiting for you to come and join us. We look to be a place where children and young people can make new friends through lots of fun activities.
Here are some examples of things you can get involved with at church.
For KS2 and above
- Reader (Lesson and prayers)
- Reporter – Church Newsletters (interview/article writing/design)
For All Ages
- Performer (Nativity/Passion Play/Harvest)
- Church decorator (Harvest/Christmas/Easter)
- Gardener – the church garden and ecological project (planting/watering/auditing)
If you want to sing in the choir, just come along at 9:30 on Sundays – we meet next to the piano in the church. Even if you can’t make it every week – come and join us – we would love to see and hear you.
If you would like to be an altar server, please come at 10:15 on Sunday and speak to Pippa or Rupert (if we have a full complement that day we will certainly book you in for a Sunday soon).
For other activities, talk to Veronica, Swenja, or Shoko before/after the 10:30 Sunday services, or have a look on the SBSP’s school website where we have placed an advert.
Do you have an idea for a children’s activity we should be doing at Church?. If you do, come and talk to Shoko about it.
We would love you to get involved. We look forward to sharing our gratitude and pride at your achievements at church with your community, both at church and at school.
If you would like to be involved in any way please do contact the Vicar at email@example.com for more information and to sign up.
