There’s quite a lot in what follows about looking ahead. When we return in the autumn, there will be one big change to our building: the lower hall will be able to be used at the same time as the main body of the church. A group of us are now thinking more widely about how our building helps our mission and ministry and how it also occasionally hinders it. We have some ideas we want to share with you in the autumn.
And at some point we as a church need to respond to the Diocese of London’s new ‘Capital Vision 2020′. The Church Council will be discussing this in the future and it may be our plans for the building feature heavily in our response. We want our building to be far more open to the local community: for them to feel it’s their church, as much as ours.
We also hope to have news in the autumn about one new initiative to help us a church work out what the real needs are in our community, so we can work out how best to respond.
But before then, of course, we have the summer holidays. I hope you all manage to find some way to get some rest. A chance to get some fresh perspective on your life and to come back renewed in the autumn.
Wishing you every blessing over the next couple of months.
